I’ll still be at my beloved Brooklyn Indie Market this Saturday from 11-7, but on Sunday I’m trying something new: The Market at the Old American Can Facory. The Can Factory Market at the Old American Can Factory is a new place to find wares designed, crafted, grown or published from a broad community of creative makers. Located in the restored 5000 square foot garage of The Old American Can Factory, a historic industrial complex that is a curated haven to more than 200 artisans, artists, designers, publishers and non-profit organizations. My {NewNew} teammate Cakehouse, who makes adorable housewares by silk screening upcycled fabric, will be there too.
Location: 232 3rd Street at 3rd Avenue, Gowanus, brooklyn. Sunday 11am-7pm

I’ll be with the {NewNew} on Sunday June 7at the Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn. McCarren Park, 11-7PM.

In other news: the lovely snowfall has turned icy here in Brooklyn. I’m in for the rest of the day, building up stamina for the final holiday push: Saturday and Sunday at the Brooklyn Indie Market. Brrr…

breadlogo

This Saturday and Sunday, December 20 and 21, Wabisabi Brooklyn will team up with Brooklyn Indie Market to donate 15- 20% of its proceeds from sales (which will be doubled by a matching grant from Independence Community Foundation) to St. John’s Bread and Life, Brooklyn’s largest emergency food provider.

The shopping event will be part of Bread and Life’s “Give Where You Live Campaign,” which seeks to involve the local Brooklyn community in charitable programs. The organization provides meals to more than 1,500 people each day both at its location on Lexington Avenue in Bedford Stuyvesant and via its Mobile Soup Kitchen which makes deliveries throughout Brooklyn and Queens. In addition to sales at the market, local designers, artists and merchants have donated prizes to be raffled off during the December 20/21 weekend, including designer clothing and accessories, art, dinners and bottles of wine. Donations will help Bread and Life reduce poverty and hunger, which affects one in five of every New Yorker.

The event will take place at Brooklyn Indie Market, on Smith Street between Union and President in Carroll Gardens.

I’m super psyched (and a little butterfly-in-the-stomach) to be participating in this event for the second year in a row. This year I’ll be sharing a spot with the lovely Kimmchi.

For a sneak peek at the other vendors, go here. Here’s the map:

As a member of the {NewNew} York Etsy Street team — a group of sellers from Etsy.com, the online marketplace for handmade goods — I will be leaving the city for a day and heading up to Dutchess County to to set up shop in Beacon, New York. The craft fair will take place from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and will coincide with Beacon’s Second Saturday Art Walk. The Handmade Cavalcade fair will be located at the corner of Main Street and North Cedar, right in the middle of it all!

There will be through 20 booths of one-of-a-kind items, including smashing jewelry, paper goods, hand-screened clothing and accessories, unique artwork and items for the home, yummy soaps and body butters, and much much more!

Tonight from 6-8 at the Etsy Labs in Brooklyn: Trashion Trunk Show!

We are members of the Trashion Street Team and will be there with some freebies for early birds, but will not be selling.

Tomorrow from 11-7 we wrap up our July residency at Brooklyn Indie Market. We are more or less taking a break from table selling for most of August and September, so do drop by.

And remember: Thursday is the last to sign up for August Freebie Fridays: Every Friday in August we will be giving away a free necklace to someone from our mailing list.

Brooklyn Indie Market is on Smith Street near President. Take the F or G train to Carrol and exit at President Street.

  • We’ll be back at our favorite venue, Brooklyn Indie Market, tomorrow from 11-7. Be there or be square.
  • If you haven’t done so yet, sign up for our mailing list for a chance to win a free necklace on one of the five Fridays in August.

  • We will be back at Brooklyn Indie Market on Saturday from 11-7.
  • We are now members of Etsy Trashion, many members of which are launching a 15% off sale starting Sunday.cimg2216.jpg

Thanks to everyone who stopped by at Brooklyn Indie Market Yesterday. We had a great day, and will be back there next Saturday.

Tomorrow we are venturing into Manhattan near the SoHo Apple Store for a little selling experiment. If you’re in the neighborhood, drop on by. Otherwise, a wabisabi brooklyn hankering can always be tamped down a bit with a visit to our Etsy shop.

After a two-week break, we’ll be back at Brooklyn Indie Market tomorrow from 11-7. Stop by and see the new designs we’ve been coming up with!

Brooklyn Indie Market is on Smith Street near Union Street. Take the F train to Carroll Street and get out at the President Street exit.

Next month will be busy busy busy here at wabisabi brooklyn. We will be selling at Brooklyn Indie Market every Saturday in July, and we will feature a design a day both here on our website and in our Etsy shop.

The photo uploader is not working for me today, but here is a picture of us from our first Brooklyn Indie Market Sale.

happycustomerlaura.jpg We had a great time at Brooklyn Indie Market on Smith Street this weekend, despite yesterday’s very strange sun showers deluge. (Somewhere a witch got married or the devil married an angel or some such thing). Today the sun held out, making for a bright if steamy time.

We’ll be taking the next two weekends off, save for some possible guerilla selling on the random street corner. If you miss those (we won’t say when or where they’ll be, except maybe to our mailing list, so sign up if you really want to know), don’t fret: we’ll be back at Brooklyn Indie Market every Saturday in July.

In the mean time, visit our Happy Customers page, and if you’re a happy customer, email us a picture to post at wabisabibrooklyn[at]gmail[dot]com.

asymmetrical-necklace.jpgThis Saturday and Sunday, June 16 and 17, we will be inside the tent at Brooklyn Indie Market on Smith Street near Union Street from 11-7. Take the F or G train to Carroll Street, get out at the President Street exit and we’re right there. Hope to see you!

If you can’t make it and are still in a wabisabi brooklyn shopping mood, please visit our Etsy shop, where the lovely necklace to the left is available for sale. Or stop by artez’n at 444 Atlantic Avenue, near the Atlantic Avenue train station, where we have several more pieces available.

artezn-june-10.jpgWe had a great time participating in both the Carroll Park flea market on Saturday and the artez’n trunk show on Sunday. And look how pretty our display has gotten!

Look for us next weekend, June 16 and 17 from 10-7, at Brooklyn Indie Market.

We’ve got an eventful weekend planned for ourselves, beginning on Saturday from 10-3 with the Carroll Park Flea Market. On Sunday from 12-6 we’ll be participating in the Atlantic Avenue Art Walk with a trunk show at Artez’n.

Carroll Park is located between Smith and Court Streets and President and Carroll Streets. Take the F or G train to Carroll Street and exit at President Street for easy access to us.

Artez’n is at 444 atlantic ave between Nevins and Bond, close to the Atlantic Avenue subway station.
